Hi, I’m Shubhangi More, (she/her) a Counseling Psychologist. I have been practicing for about 2 years now. Other than therapy, I enjoy coloring Mandalas, cycling and reading books. I’m also part of WICCI National Mental health Council where we work on advocacy, bridging the gap using psychoeducation and coordinating events for the same. I also run a page on Instagram @unbottled.emotions where I work towards destigmatizing mental health and use this platform to create awareness around therapy and emotions.

Counselling has helped me connect better with people. The ability to hold space for someone is what excites and scares me at the same time. A professor once told me, “You might be the first person in your client’s life who is hearing their side of the story”. This has completely changed the way I look at therapy. Over the years, it has taught me how empathy and a safe space can work wonders for people. Sometimes we carry wounds from our past that we may not be even aware of. Listening to someone’s story is a privilege and I’m glad I chose this profession.
I use Person centered therapy and see clients from a trauma informed/ strength based lens. PCT is client directed. Therapist considers clients to know the best about their lives. Therapist provides a non-judgmental and safe space to the client. Strength based is basically looking at your strengths, aspiration, motivation rather than another diagnosis. Trauma lens means we look at clients through their context and also understand how past trauma can show up in different areas of our life without us knowing.
We all deserve to be heard and seen. Sometimes our personal relationships might not exactly give us this kind of space. Here comes therapy where you can explore and get insights & perspective. Authentic relationships cannot exist without you being vulnerable and no matter how scary it is, you still show up.
I wish to build a collaborative relationship with my client. As therapists, we do carry our client’s stories outside of therapy rooms and I wish to build one on trust and honesty. I ensure there is no hierarchy or a position of authority. Client knows better about their lives and it’s a privilege to learn about their inner worlds. I make sure to provide a rationale on every new activity/ homework that I bring to the session. I’m always open to feedbacks and understanding what is working and not-working.
